A storage and retrieval machine (RBG), stacker crane (STC) or storage and retrieval machine - S/R machine is a rail-guided, single-track vehicle for serving goods in a high-bay warehouse. The height of an RBG starts at around 6 meters and goes up to a maximum height of 46 meters. There are RBGs that can serve the entire warehouse via a switch system (curved RBGs for lower outputs), or change the aisle with a converter, and those that only operate in one aisle (aisle-bound RBGs for high outputs). Depending on the application, the level of automation ranges from manual to fully automated.

Plan photovoltaics for warehouses, commercial halls and industrial halls

Warehouses, production halls and industrial halls with their own power source from a photovoltaic roof system - Image: NavinTar|Shutterstock.com

Whether it's a flat roof or a pitched roof, everything is free of roof penetration.

Politicians are getting serious, the new climate protection law, the heart of the Green Deal , is driving measures and developments forward. Legal regulations for new commercial buildings with photovoltaics requirements already apply in some federal states.

What is roof penetration free?

With a roof-penetration-free photovoltaic roof installation, no holes have to be drilled through the roof or other interventions have to be made. Sloped gable and monopitch roofs, which are designed with bitumen or foil covering, could previously hardly be realized without roof penetration or only with great effort.

With the METIS mounting system from T.Werk, photovoltaic projects can also be easily implemented on these roofs. Thanks to a wind report at the IFI Institute in Aachen, the necessary ballasting could be reduced to a minimum.
