The idea of using already sealed areas for photovoltaics is not new. There was still a lack of sufficient incentives to implement it, especially since the alternatives for solar systems on roofs or walls, such as fences for solar walls, solar fences and solar facades , are also almost inexhaustible.
After North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg introduced the solar requirement for open parking spaces for 2022, i.e. the requirement for solar parking space roofing from 35 or 75 open parking spaces, this is now next in federal states such as Schleswig-Holstein and Rhineland-Palatinate .
It is planned to introduce compulsory solar carports in new open parking spaces for more than 50 vehicles in Rhineland-Palatinate. This should be passed in the state parliament by the end of September and introduced in 2023. In Schleswig-Holstein, the requirement for solar carports to provide more than 100 parking spaces for new buildings should also be decided by autumn. It is not yet clear whether this will come in 2022 or not until 2023.

With the start and expansion of sealed parking areas to further reduce the ecological burden on our environment, the economic aspect is added. At the same time, it is also the starting signal for a gradual revolution in the driving habits we have developed over decades. In the next ten years we will be refueling wherever we shop, work, go on holiday or live. And don't drive to the central gas station as before when the tank is empty. Are the big oil companies now on the hook like the tobacco industry from 2011 onwards, which produced just over 220 billion cigarettes in 2011 and shrank to just over 57 billion cigarettes just 9 years later?
Number of gas stations in Germany by operator from 2019 to 2021
Number of gas stations in Germany by operator from 2008 to 2021
The statistics show the number of street filling stations in Germany by operator in the years from 2008 to 2021. The filling station operator Total operated a total of 1,157 filling stations in Germany at the beginning of 2021. At the same time there were around 14,500 gas stations in Germany.
Some of the older values were taken from previous year's publications. Please note that there may be deviations in the grayed out values when compared with the corresponding (possibly recalculated) data from the source.

Suitable for:
- Solar Cities: Carport and solar obligation in Germany for solar systems and parking spaces
- Solar carport mandatory for new parking spaces in BaWü – Baden-Württemberg – BW, private and company parking spaces or similar.
- The solar requirement for carports in Schleswig-Holstein is coming!
- Solar obligation in NRW? North Rhine-Westphalia - The current status - New: solar carport solar requirement
Our solar parking solution is modular and scalable:
- Quick and easy assembly
- Stable strip foundation as collision protection
- Individually customizable design (color, materials, surface, size, etc.)
- Installation of charging stations and inverters is possible at any time
- Scalable & modular: Available as a single, double or arbitrarily scalable row carport
- Can even be used in the standard version for very high wind and snow loads (s k = 2.2 kN/m²)
- Extra large and wide parking spaces and very easy parking thanks to W-shaped supports
- High-quality design for sophisticated and long-lasting requirements: Hot-dip galvanized steel construction (DIN EN 10346, DIN EN 1461)
Suitable for:
Charging infrastructure and charging stations
Should the energy generated be fed into the grid or parked in energy or electricity storage? What are the load profiles, the technical connection conditions, number of charging stations, vehicle downtime and ultimately the specified total PV output? Will the charges be recorded with the company if the employee charges their company car from home? These are questions that we will have to deal with in the future. It is different from what we are used to today.
