SEO: In a word

With my article “ TOP 100 SEO not so top ” from February 12, 2021, I probably opened a barrel. The response ranged from approval to rejection. As expected, the latter was the most common. The trigger was probably that a few people used my article as a starting point to initiate a re-evaluation of their SEO performance. And no, I didn't use my article as an opportunity to accept SEO jobs about it. SEO is no longer a business model for me.

The most common search term was “SEO criticism”, which was used to find my article on Google:

The article is currently in second place for these search terms. Other top ten rankings can be found with other search terms.

But I now had to face justified criticism. Apparently I deliberately left out the further section of my screenshot,

which says: “Core Web Vitals test failed”.

Whether intentional or not, it's a statement against a statement. The best solution is of course to fix the problem quickly.

And so that everyone understands it correctly, for me only the mobile version is interesting because Google has made mobile first indexing the standard for all websites. This means that in the future Google will only use the mobile version for ranking evaluation.

Suitable for:

Why are these “Core Web Vitals” so important?

Searchmetrics writes that currently less than 3% of 2 million websites examined achieve good results in Google Core Web Vitals metrics. The metrics LCP, FID and FLS will largely determine the organic rankings as a basis for evaluation.

Searchmetrics itself is one of the most well-known and powerful content performance platforms with strong monitoring and reporting features.

SEO problem fixed!

Google Page Speed for the mobile Xpert.Digital version – Image: Google & Xpert.Digital

Well, in the meantime I have fixed the SEO problem with the “Core Web Vitals” and it now looks like this in my Google Search Console:

URLs Usability – Image: Google & Xpert.Digital

Signals for user-friendliness – Image: Google & Xpert.Digital

And then under the Google Page Speed Test result it says: “There is not enough actual speed data for this page in the Chrome user experience report.”

This simply means that my website is too small for Google to be able to generate data for the user experience in Chrome from the traffic. This is reserved for popular websites.

Since my Xpert.Digital blog focuses purely on B2B and special topics, my target group is portioned accordingly.

My performance and area of activity

If I had the time, I could certainly get a lot more out of this and expand it. However, I have specialized in the interim management area as an in-house solution. Often in the area of crisis management in the event of leadership failures or when things are not going well in the company. And yes, you can actually catch me with SEO if I am given responsibility for the topic of SEO as a sub-area in the strategy realignment. But then I get the appropriate SEOs on board. It's always good when you can talk to experts on an equal level.

That's why Xpert.Digital!
