After lengthy negotiations, the grand coalition has been able to agree on a far-reaching climate agreement.
"The current cap of 52 gigawatts for the promotion of the expansion of PV systems will be lifted."
Conversely, this means that once the total installed photovoltaic capacity reaches 52 gigawatts, subsidies will continue to be available for systems up to 750 kilowatts. That's good news!
Progress on this issue stalled for a long time, and the industry feared that nothing would move forward at all. The limit would have been reached as early as next year. "No mercy for solar subsidies." Once the limit was reached, the solar industry was supposed to manage without any subsidies. Now, however, there has been a positive development.
The nature and extent of the expansion in the photovoltaic sector remain unclear. Even if it isn't the expected leap forward, and the climate package is being criticized more for its shortcomings than its success, it is at least a step in the right direction. Things could have turned out differently.
