Shareholders of tech companies are likely watching the current developments with concern. The industry heavyweights are currently firmly in the grip of the bear market. A bear market is defined as a decline of 20 percent or more from a stock's 52-week high. Facebook, Netflix, and Apple have been hit particularly hard, all meeting this criterion. But Amazon and Alphabet are also currently close to the 20 percent threshold. Previously, as the chart shows, tech stocks had known only one direction for years.
