Germany is becoming increasingly smart. This is shown by data from the Statista Digital Market Outlook. According to the report, at least one smart home application is currently in use in 6.1 million households – this number is expected to rise to 13.5 million by 2023. The most widespread devices are from the "networking and control" category. These include smart speakers (Amazon Echo, Google Home, etc.), central control and communication units (gateways/hubs), programmable control buttons (e.g., wall switches, rotary knobs), and smart plugs for switching non-smart devices on and off.
