Apple's HomePod is less smart than the competition

The HomePod has been on the market since February 9th. However, Apple's answer to Google Home, Amazon Echo, and others is said to be less smart than the competition, according to a study by the investment firm Loup Ventures .

The researchers posed 782 questions and commands to the smart speakers Google Home, Amazon Echo, Harman Kardon Invoke, and HomePod, documenting their capabilities. As the Statista graphic shows, the Google device performed best in all categories. The HomePod showed particular weaknesses in navigation, while Cortana and Alexa couldn't keep up when it came to shopping-related questions.

However, Loup Ventures stated that the HomePod is far superior in terms of sound quality. Furthermore, the device scores highly in terms of user-friendliness, particularly regarding setup and communication style.
