What can be done for greater cybersecurity?

The data breach affecting 1,000 politicians, celebrities, and journalists has once again brought the issue of data protection and security into sharp focus. A survey from last year reveals which cybersecurity measures Germans support. Nearly half of those surveyed want the government to hold website operators more accountable. A similar number would like to see more funding allocated to cybersecurity for the relevant authorities. Around 37 percent are in favor of allowing the government to conduct counterattacks (“hack back”) in the event of cyberattacks.
