The majority sees responsibility for data protection within themselves

Whether ordering pizza or making a movie reservation – many online activities require users to disclose personal data such as their address. According to a recent Bitkom survey, the majority of Germans see themselves as responsible for the security of this data.

74 percent of respondents stated that they take personal responsibility for data protection. More than one in five see the state as responsible, as the graphic shows. Only three percent believe that internet providers are responsible for data security.
