the Home Electronics Market Index, Germans bought 16.4 million smartphones between January and September – 0.9 percent more than in the same period last year. In contrast, TV sales declined significantly. Consumer interest in digital cameras and game consoles has fallen particularly sharply. Overall, Germans spent over 23 billion euros on consumer electronics and information technology.
