Amazon's new corporate headquarters was originally planned for New York. Now, CEO Jeff Bezos has scrapped the 400,000-square-meter project. The reason: protests from local residents who feared rising rents and the collapse of the subway system in light of the 25,000 tech jobs. With nearly 650,000 employees, Amazon is the world's largest tech company. Other industry giants like Apple and Microsoft have "only" slightly more than 130,000 employees, as the graphic shows.
