Investors invest billions in new crypto coins

The major cryptocurrency hype is over. Bitcoin, for example, is currently worth only around $4,000, more than $13,000 below its all-time high from December 2017. On the other hand, cryptocurrencies continue to exert a strong attraction on investors. According to CoinDesk a total of around $5.4 billion was raised through Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) in 2017, the figure for the first seven months of this year has already exceeded $16 billion. An ICO works similarly to a company's initial public offering (IPO) – except that instead of shares, units of a digital currency are sold to investors.

On the other hand, Kypto currencies continue to exert a strong attraction on investors. According to coindesk , while in 2017 a total of around 5.4 billion US dollars were collected in so-called Initial Coin Offerings (ICO), in the first seven months of the current year the figure had already risen to more than 16 billion US dollars. An ICO works in a similar way to the IPO of a company – only instead of shares, units of a digital currency are sold to investors.
