The Turkish economy is in a period of instability. What consequences could this have for the German economy? As the Statista infographic shows, Turkey is a relatively small trading partner for Germany. It ranks 16th among Germany's most important trading partners for both exports and imports. The main exports to Turkey are machinery, cars and car parts, and chemical products. The mechanical engineering sector is therefore among the first to feel the effects of the disruptions. German companies are currently able to offset the negative developments in individual markets. However, other conflicts such as Brexit and the trade dispute with the USA are creating a complex economic situation that could lead to uncertainty for German companies.

Global Go To Think Tank there are currently 7,815 think tanks worldwide. Of these, 1,872 are based in the USA. As the Statista graphic shows, Germany ranks fifth with 225 think tanks. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) are considered particularly relevant. However, they do not make it into the top 10 most important think tanks worldwide. Here, the Americans dominate, with the Brookings Institution at the top.

5G is on the verge of a breakthrough.

The LTE (4G) network in Germany is less than a decade old, and already a new mobile communications standard is on the horizon. 5G – one of the major topics at the current Mobile World Congress (MWC) – is expected to offer data rates 100 times higher than today's 4G networks – that would be up to 10,000 Mbps. But it will likely be some time before the new mobile technology reaches consumers' smartphones. The current Ericsson Mobility Report projects only four million 5G mobile connections worldwide for 2019. After that, however, things are expected to move very quickly: by 2023, there should be around one billion 5G mobile connections – 118 million of them in Western Europe.

Gaming pays off, at least for game publishers and Google. According to Priori Data , an app store intelligence platform, nine of the ten highest-grossing Play Store apps in Germany are games. Gardenscapes topped the ranking in July with $6.2 million in revenue. Candy Crush Saga followed in second place ($4.1 million), ahead of Clash of Clans ($1.8 million). Seven of the ten highest-grossing iPhone apps in Germany are games, according to Priori Data , an app store intelligence platform. Pokémon Go topped the ranking in July 2018 with approximately $1.6 million in revenue. Netflix's app followed in second place ($1.3 million), ahead of Tinder ($1.2 million). 44 percent believe that print (probably) has no future.

nextMedia.Hamburg wanted to know what the future holds for print media . Statista investigated this question on behalf of the Hamburg media and digital industry initiative. According to the survey, 44 percent of respondents (somewhat) agree with the statement that printed publications will be dead in ten years. On the other hand, more than half of those surveyed believe that trade magazines and daily or weekly newspapers will remain relevant as print products. In a blog post , nextMedia.Hamburg expresses its conviction that print media, while not ubiquitous, will retain their place. "They will have to share the space in the metaphorical newsstand with significantly newer media such as virtual reality."
