Industry 4.0: China builds on industrial robots

Although many of the world's manufacturing robots are developed and produced by companies in Japan and Germany, these two countries combined only put half as many into operation each year as China. The US industry also only has about 40,400 robots installed.

Since many major automotive manufacturers produce in China, a large proportion of automated machinery is used in automotive production there. Robotics is also being used in the processing of electronic and metallic goods. Experts expect approximately four million active robots to be in operation in factories worldwide by 2022. These industrial robots are primarily used for handling heavy objects, welding, and assembling various components.

According to IFR , around 154,000 robots are installed in Chinese industrial production every year – making the People's Republic the leader in the use of industrial robots. Although many of the manufacturing robots used worldwide are developed and produced by companies in Japan and Germany, together only half as many are put into operation annually in both countries as in China. Even the industry in the USA has only about 40,400 robots installed.

Since many of the large car manufacturers produce in China, a large proportion of the automatic machines are used in the car production there. Robotics is also used in the processing of electronic and metallic goods. Experts expect a total of around four million active robots in factories worldwide by 2022. The industrial robots will be used primarily for handling heavy objects, welding work, and the assembly of various components.
