SmartFlex solar modules for flat roofs: fold-out PV modules as a foldable solar system

SmartFlex consists of four fold-out PV modules, is delivered ready for installation in reusable boxes along with all necessary components, and can be installed on any flat roof in a very short time. The Kopp SmartFlex modules, when unfolded, measure approximately 1.7 m² and deliver a power output of 1.6 kWp. Depending on roof size and energy requirements, any number of modules can be easily connected to the roof using only one tool and without the need for anchoring. Thanks to the included ballast, the system can easily withstand strong winds and other extreme weather conditions.

At the installation site, a crane lifts the modules from their delivery boxes onto the roof, where they are then unfolded and connected by just two solar installers. This significantly reduced construction time is particularly beneficial for commercial clients who would otherwise have to interrupt their production or public access during the installation phase. The system also saves solar installation companies personnel resources due to the rapid assembly and minimizes strenuous physical labor, which is especially advantageous in bad weather. Another benefit is greater flexibility during the winter months. Even a large system can be installed at short notice if there are only a few rain- or frost-free days. This allows solar installers to spread their workload throughout the year or take on numerous additional projects.

The decisive factor is the service-oriented production and supply chain. Kopp SmartFlex, including module carriers, ballast material, cables, and protective coverings, is fully pre-assembled, folded, and packed in reusable transport crates at the production facility in Kahl am Main. These partially patented processes guarantee consistent quality while simultaneously reducing waste and associated disposal costs. Disassembly is also straightforward thanks to the anchorless "plug 'n' play" technology, making Kopp SmartFlex particularly attractive for rental properties. "With this new product, Kopp covers all processes, from technical planning and production to delivery," says Zouhair Kefi. "We are thus offering another revolutionary solution for the growing demand for autonomous energy supply using solar power."
