In 2019, the CEP sector in Germany generated approximately €21.3 billion in revenue. In the CEP end-customer market in Germany, Deutsche Post DHL held the largest share of revenue in the 2017/2018 fiscal year, accounting for 69 percent.
In 2019, the CEP (courier, express, and parcel) industry in Germany employed nearly 513,000 people. This was almost 200,000 more employees than in 2002. The total income of these employees also rose sharply by 2019, from almost €7.7 billion in 2002 to almost €18.3 billion in 2019.
The number of delivered shipments has been growing steadily since 2010: In 2019, almost 3.7 billion shipments were sent. Germany is among the countries where a comparatively high number of parcels are sent per person per year. According to a forecast, slightly fewer parcels will be sent in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis. Under the "connection" scenario, the projected shipment volume for the German CEP (courier, express, and parcel) industry in 2024 is expected to reach almost €4.4 billion.
