Startups, deren Geschäftsmodell die Dekarbonisierung der Wirtschaft im Fokus haben, haben im Zeitraum von 2013 bis 2019 insgesamt 60 Mrd. US-Dollar von Investoren eingesammelt. Nur 11,7 Prozent dieser Summe floss an Klimatechnologie-Startups in Europa, rund die Hälfte gingen an Unternehmen in Nordamerika. Das zeigt die Statista-Grafik auf Basis eines Reports von PricewaterhouseCoopers („The State of Climate Tech 2020“). Der Report zeigt außerdem, dass Climate Tech in Bezug auf den gesamten Venture-Capital-Markt noch in den Anfängen noch in den Anfängen steckt, der Markt wächst aber schnell. So stiegen die Investitionen von 418 Millionen US-Dollar im Jahr 2013 auf 16,3 Milliarden US-Dollar im Jahr 2019. Dem Bericht zufolge entspricht dies etwa der dreifachen Wachstumsrate der VC-Investitionen in Künstliche Intelligenz im selben Zeitraum.
Startups whose business model focuses on decarbonizing the economy have raised a total of USD 60 billion from investors in the period from 2013 to 2019. Only 11.7 percent of this sum went to climate technology start-ups in Europe, while around half went to companies in North America. This is shown in the graph based on a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers („The State of Climate Tech 2020„). The report also shows that Climate Tech is still in its infancy in terms of the entire venture capital market, but the market is growing rapidly. Investments increased from $418 million in 2013 to $16.3 billion in 2019, which is roughly three times the growth rate of VC investments in artificial intelligence over the same period, according to the report.
