Logistics consulting, warehouse planning or warehouse consulting – looking for logistics consultants from Wiesbaden, Mönchengladbach, Gelsenkirchen or Aachen?
Published on: September 24, 2021 / Update from: September 24, 2021 - Author: Konrad Wolfenstein
The first shop systems between 1995 and 2000 tried to replicate the traditional department store and were primarily concerned with the pure presentation of products and the purchase process. It was only much later that the special features of electronic commerce were recognized: the difference in the marketing mix compared to traditional sales channels and the enormous flexibility on the supply side, the choice of multiple sales channels and a significant reduction in transaction costs with business partners.
With the now extremely high market penetration of Internet connections, the situation has changed completely. Electronic commerce drove rapid availability and flexibility of products. Strong industries in the areas of electronics, textiles, books and music have developed here.
More and more challenges arose. Be it returns or the globalization of markets (cf. China), driven by digital platforms such as. E.g. Amazon .
The Internet shop systems have kept pace with developments or have even driven the process excessively. However, many logistics systems still have chaotic warehousing. Even automation is a foreign concept. Digitalization, China and autonomous power supply are further points that raise many questions. The will and interest for adjustments and changes is generally there. But for most people it is also a question of how?
A large percentage have already taken some steps here. Implementations from the past, which used to last a human life, are now obsolete and outdated after just a few years. The question therefore increasingly arises: How can the flow of goods in the supply chain be designed in such a way that changes can be responded to quickly and flexibly without this entailing major new developments and investments?
- We offer organizational and planning ideas through to turnkey solutions.
- If required, we also provide market figures and forecasts for over 150 countries.
E-commerce and globalization: The long-running logistical challenges
Automation is only part of the solution. The global markets are also constantly changing. A fixed strategy and long-term logistical planning is not possible without modular and flexible agitation models.
Smart logistics not just for start-ups!
Ideally, a rapidly increasing number of customers, an ever-larger product range and growing shipping volumes: When it comes to growth, e-commerce startups quickly reach their logistical limits. But that's not the end of it yet. The increasing competitive pressure and newly added extras such as the offer of free returns or fast delivery (same-day delivery) further increase the logistical challenges.
Anyone who doesn't invest in efficient structures will quickly lose touch. Because it is precisely functioning logistics that guarantee the business success of online retailers. So it's important to trim the processes for maximum efficiency if you don't want to lose sight of the costs and, on top of that, scare away customers.

Conquering the China market: data, figures, facts and statistics
China is not only the world's largest market from e-commerce to social commerce, it is also a big unknown in the Western world. The manufacturing industry received massive support from the Chinese government, especially in the B2B sector. In 2019, 2/3 of e-commerce transactions in China alone came from the B2B market.
The country's major imported products include machinery and electronics such as vehicles, integrated circuits, chemicals, metallurgical products, mineral products (crude oil, iron ore, etc.), rubber, plastics in primary forms and textiles.
The Chinese agricultural sector has also become increasingly dependent on imports in recent years. China is the world's largest importer of soybeans and meat and is a leading importer of dairy products, wine, other foods and drinks.
In 2013, China became the world's leading trading nation, overtaking the United States. China's total imports and exports reached 31.5 trillion yuan in 2019. The trade value of goods imports exceeded $2 trillion this year, accounting for nearly 14 percent of global imports and making China the world's second-largest importing nation. As for services trade, travel and transportation-related service imports account for around 75 percent of all service imports in China.

Conquering the UK market: data, figures, facts and statistics
The share of online shoppers in the total population of the European Union was 50 percent in 2018. In a European comparison, the proportion of online shoppers is highest in the United Kingdom at 77 percent. The average spending per capita when shopping online is also highest in Europe in the United Kingdom. Per capita spending there amounted to 921 euros in 2019. In second place are Germans, who spend an average of 784 euros per year on online purchases.
It is also interesting that many companies integrate an English version in addition to their own national language when setting up their e-commerce. Mostly because the technology allows it and usually not based on data and numbers. Access to the UK and US markets is seen as a “positive” side effect. In most cases there is no strategic basis here.
And if the UK or US market is an integral part of the global company strategy, there is usually a lack of comprehensive information that highlights the differences in the respective national markets.
Xpert.Digital as an information and content hub offers extensive data, figures, facts and statistics that can be ideally used for a revision, realignment or restart.

Conquering the US market: data, figures, facts and statistics
If you ask 10 experts how to proceed, you will get 31 or more answers. From the mega version to the slimmed down versions, the various option models and modules, everything can be found. But what is the right thing?
We continue with the various sub-disciplines such as social media, SEO, SEA, content development, affiliate and what else there is.
And then there is a patchwork of different concepts, strategies and measures that work together more randomly and somehow from department to department. For the most part, most people don’t know anything about each other. USP? You usually find out about it by chance. In many cases, what management comes up with is not communicated downwards because it gets stuck somewhere, it gets bogged down and tangled in countless meetings, gets bogged down and ends up deadlocked.
Usually a lower level then takes the initiative and makes a virtue out of necessity. Actionism is then the motto of the hour. Based on numbers and data? None. That doesn't necessarily have to be wrong. If you get external help for the relevant discipline, you also get the relevant know-how in-house that can cushion this.

Plan solar systems with photovoltaic solutions for freight forwarding and contract logistics
The EU's Green Deal is the heart of the new climate protection law and drives developments and measures forward. In some federal states there are already legal provisions for new logistics buildings with photovoltaics mandatory. The solar system requirement for existing logistics buildings and logistics centers will follow. The first announcements about this have already been made in politics, because the EU wants to be the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050.
What will be crucial for the future will be how we continue to secure the infrastructure of our key industry! Key industries in Germany today include the automotive industry, construction industry, food, chemical industry, electrical industry, energy production, mechanical engineering and shipyards.
The Corona pandemic in particular has shown that the functioning supply chain management of trade and industry is particularly thanks to the logistical mastery of forwarding companies and contract logistics. The fact that there were “only” shortages like in the “toilet paper crisis” will remain just a humorous side note in the future.

Better networking of business development with logistics managers and planners (3PL & 4PL)
Know-how of the logistics industry in e-commerce must be improved - Logistics manager and planner has become one of the most challenging professions in the last 20 years - 5 points that are important.
The worldwide statistically recorded export of goods increased more than 19-fold between 1960 and 2017. From 1970 to 2014, world trade volume increased from 0.3 to 18.9 trillion US dollars.
The globalization of politics opened the markets to a globalization of culture and language. The number of telephone connections on the global telephone network has increased tenfold since 1960. In addition to the telephone, new communication technologies are developing: cell phones, VoIP telephony, video conferences over IP, faxes and the Internet. Internet-based telephony enables globally networked collaboration through a cost-effective, permanent, high-quality communication connection. Cross-border communication processes have multiplied, especially via the Internet, and the number of Internet connections continues to rise exponentially.
