Phaenom managing director presents Kardex Remstar's virtual & augmented reality approach at the Ulm logistics meeting
At the 15th ULM, the Ulm Logistics Meeting held on November 24, 2016 at the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences, the trend towards digitalization in the industry was taken up. At the annual conference with well-known representatives from the logistics sector, the focus was not only on current trends, but also on future developments in the industry. In addition to topics such as the influence of 3D printing and new transport solutions, the focus was on the role of virtual reality technology and the possibilities for its use in logistics.
Richard Hagl, founder and managing director of Phaenom GmbH from Munich, the technical partner of Xpert.Digital, a solution provider and developer of digital solutions for companies in a wide range of industries, was there as a speaker. In his lecture “Opportunities through Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in Logistics?” he emphasized the importance of such applications.
He used the intralogistics manufacturer Kardex Remstar from neighboring Neuburg an der Kammel as an example, which is already experimenting with the technology at trade fairs. At this year's FachPack trade fair in Nuremberg, the company's automated storage devices were presented with the help of innovative virtual and augmented reality displays. By incorporating quasi-realistic elements and digital interaction via the data glasses and mobile apps provided, simulations were created that gave the viewer the feeling of being in the middle of the technical event.
