The analysts at eCommerceDB have for the first time investigated the question of which online shops in the United States have the highest sales. Overall, the US eCommerce market is worth $398 billion - around 26 percent of which is accounted for by the ten leading companies. As in Germany, Amazon is the undisputed number one on the other side of the Atlantic. In 2017, the shipping giant generated almost $53 billion in sales (direct sales only) via Amazon.com in its home market. In second place is walmart.com (14 billion US dollars), followed by apple.com (6.3 billion US dollars).
