The new law should be passed by autumn 2021 and come into force during this legislative period. It can be assumed that the starting signal will follow at the beginning of 2022. Among other things, new regulations were established for an increased expansion of photovoltaic systems, which the Environment Minister Jan Philipp Albrecht of Schleswig Holstein presented at a cabinet meeting on February 16, 2021 in the draft law to amend the Schleswig-Holstein Energy Transition and Climate Protection Act (EWKG).

The climate protection and energy revenue report published last year showed an expansion gap in renewable energies. This is to be largely closed by a stronger expansion of photovoltaics (PV). Recent studies provide a potential for photovoltaics on buildings in Schleswig-Holstein from 7 to 9 Gigawatt, currently only 1.1 gigawatts are realized. “We want to significantly advance the necessary expansion of renewable energies with photovoltaic systems on roofs, parking spaces and with open space systems. For investors, photovoltaic systems are economically attractive and make a contribution to climate protection. This strengthens ecology and economy in the country alike, ”said Albrecht. The solar obligation for solar carports in Schleswig-Holstein will come.

In the future, roofing with photovoltaic systems will become standard for newly built parking lots with more than 100 spaces.
A similar regulation will apply in Baden-Württemberg in 2022 from 75 parking spaces . In Schleswig-Holstein, wind energy, biogas plants and photovoltaics are already contributing to the fact that the share of renewable energies in electricity generation is already at 53 percent (2015). According to studies, photovoltaics are said to have the greatest growth potential and greater development potential.
