Esports, competitive computer gaming, was long a phenomenon largely ignored by the media and sponsors. However, a shift in thinking has occurred in recent years, as the infographic shows: revenues and prize money have increased (by approximately 400 and 1000 percent, respectively). This is partly due to brands and clubs recognizing the marketing potential of esports and investing heavily in it. Furthermore, the esports industry has become increasingly well-known. In Germany, for example, almost half of the respondents in a recent survey were familiar with the term esports, while another 27 percent had at least heard of it.
