E-sports, competitive gaming on the computer, has long been a phenomenon that was largely ignored by the media and sponsors. In recent years, however, there has been a rethink, as the infographic shows: sales and prize money have increased (around 400 and 1000 percent respectively). On the one hand, this is because brands and clubs have recognized the marketing potential in electronic sports and are investing heavily here. On the other hand, the e-sports industry has recently become more and more popular. In Germany, almost half of those surveyed in a recent survey can relate to the word e-sport, and another 27 percent have already heard of it.
