Majority sees responsibility for data protection in itself

Whether ordering a pizza or making a cinema reservation, many online activities require users to provide personal information such as their address. According to a current Bitkom survey, the majority of Germans see themselves as responsible for the security of this data.
74 percent of those surveyed said they took personal responsibility for data protection. More than one in five see the state as responsible, as the graphic shows. Only three percent think that internet providers are responsible for data security.
