How popular is augmented reality really in Germany? New survey clarifies – XR technology v. Pokémon Go to Industry 4.0

Augmented reality, often abbreviated as AR, is changing the way we perceive the world around us. This is a technology in which virtual content is inserted into the real environment. Users can therefore see additional information or animations that are integrated into their real environment through their smartphones or special glasses.

The increasing popularity of AR in Germany is reflected in survey results that show increased use of this technology in recent years. In 2020, 13% of respondents said they had already used AR applications. This number increased to 16% in 2021 and reached 17% in 2022. In the current year 2023, 19% of Germans are already using AR applications.
