Storms such as floods can have devastating consequences in Germany. In flood risk areas, numerous solar systems are also affected by flooding. System operators, on-site helpers and installers must know what to do to ensure safe handling of the systems. That's why SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) provides important information and background knowledge on how to deal with solar systems during floods.
Solar systems, which convert the sun's energy into electricity without emissions and thus make a decisive contribution to climate protection, do not pose any potential danger during normal operation. But as with all electrical devices, caution should be exercised in solar systems with and without battery storage systems in the event of water ingress, for example due to flooding. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not enter flooded rooms where inverters or other solar system installations are still live.
