For parking lots and other sealed building areas

In Vienna, subsidies are available for commercial and private photovoltaic systems installed on buildings, structures, or business premises (excluding green spaces). Suitable documentation of the installation method must be included with the application.

Installations located on green spaces are not eligible for funding. This excludes installations built as part of citizen participation projects.

The Vienna PV canopy roof subsidy program specifically promotes the construction of

Photovoltaic systems on canopy roofs and thus
Support is provided for photovoltaic systems used as shading devices for parking lots and other sealed building areas.

The goal is to facilitate the construction of roofs with photovoltaics

The aim is to support the construction of roofs with photovoltaics on undeveloped parts of properties intended for parking, maneuvering, storage and handling areas that are not to be landscaped, and on other already paved and sealed areas.

Already sealed surfaces should be put to dual use

Newly installed photovoltaic (PV) systems on newly constructed cantilevered roofs in Vienna are eligible for funding. These systems must operate in grid-connected mode and have at least 800 full-load hours per year. For the purposes of this funding, a cantilevered roof is defined as a freestanding roof structure that rests solely on supports or whose covered area is open on at least three sides. Only systems erected on existing sealed surfaces are eligible for funding.
