The demand for transparent solar modules for solar carports is constantly growing. They are real eye-catchers. Individual design and eco-friendly solutions are no longer mutually exclusive. With transparent solar modules, the solar cells themselves are still opaque. The transparency, or semi-transparency, is created by the light-permeable space between the individual solar cells. This is made possible by the double glazing of the solar cells within the module. Interesting design variations can be produced using polycrystalline (medium blue) and monocrystalline (dark blue/black) solar cells. The color of the glass enclosing the solar cells can also be customized. Everything from a reddish tint to green is possible. However, all of this also affects the energy yield and performance of the solar modules. It should also be noted that transparent solar modules generally have a lower power output compared to standard solar modules.
So far, only two manufacturers have overhead approval for glass-glass solar modules.

The real problem is that not all modules have the necessary building code approval. In fact, almost none do. Currently, we know of two solar module manufacturers who have since obtained approval for overhead installation. The modules' penetration resistance (invasiveness test) and residual load-bearing capacity were tested. The latter must be able to withstand the loads that occur (e.g., snow). Even in the event of damage, a minimum load-bearing capacity must be guaranteed. In case of glass breakage, the solar modules must be secured against falling fragments.

The nature of a solar power system
A solar power system consists of solar modules mounted on a support structure (mounting system/substructure for solar modules). The solar power system produces direct current (DC), which is converted into alternating current (AC) via inverters and fed into the electrical grid and/or the home's electrical network.
In short, a solar power system offers significant financial advantages. Even though the initial costs are very high, the savings on electricity bills from using self-generated power will be largely offset in the future by the increased consumption of numerous electronic devices and the anticipated rise in e-mobility. Furthermore, increasingly sophisticated energy storage systems allow the electricity to be stored for later use, potentially enabling it to be sold to third parties as an additional source of income.
The foundation and essential element of every solar power system is the supporting structure. This includes the substructures for various rooftop systems and roof types such as flat or pitched roofs, as well as the mounting systems for ground-mounted and open-field systems, also known as solar parks.
