Sales development: Trade without e-commerce is no longer conceivable in Germany

The “daily necessities” product group cluster has seen particularly strong growth during the pandemic. This includes sales of drugstore products, food and pet supplies. Compared to the last year before Corona, this segment increased by 92 percent. The two strongest clusters, entertainment and clothing, also saw significant double-digit growth.
According to bevh, an important driver is mobile commerce: “Ordering via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets is now normal. Over the past two pandemic years, the sales volume of mobile commerce increased by 56.5 percent to 39.9 billion euros, a good 40 percent of total e-commerce sales.”
