Jungheinrich Aktiengesellschaft, based in Hamburg, is a listed German company specializing in industrial truck, warehouse and material flow technology. In these segments, the company ranks third worldwide and second in Europe.
The German Jungheinrich AG is one of the three largest companies in the fields of industrial truck, warehouse and material flow technology worldwide. The focus of the mechanical engineering and intralogistics company is on products and services “related to forklifts”. The company was founded in Hamburg in 1953 and is still based there today.
In 2019, Jungheinrich AG generated sales of around 4.1 billion euros; around a quarter of them in Germany.
The number of employees at the internationally active company has been growing steadily since 2010 and reached almost 18,400 employees in 2019. Around 41 percent of employees are employed in Germany.
Jungheinrich sold around 112,900 industrial trucks worldwide last year. In addition to the sale of new equipment, Jungheinrich is increasingly focusing on the business with rental and used equipment, racks and storage systems as well as on the maintenance, repair and spare parts business.
Jungheinrich's biggest competitors in the industrial truck market are the Japanese company Toyota, with a market share of over 27 percent, and the German Kion Group, which has 14 percent of the market. Jungheinrich has a market share of nine percent.
Jungheinrich's European rental fleet includes around 38,100 rental forklifts with 600 vehicle variants with load capacity classes from 1 to 42 tons and lifting heights of up to 17 meters.
With the online shop Jungheinrich Profishop, Jungheinrich has been offering companies a range in the areas of stacking and lifting, transport, storage, operating and office equipment, occupational safety and the environment since 2006. The range includes around 36,000 items: from the Jungheinrich product range, the traditional “Ameise” brand and products from other manufacturers. The professional shop has also been available in Austria since 2007.
Jungheinrich is represented in 40 group-owned sales and service companies worldwide. In addition, Jungheinrich is present through dealers, particularly in overseas markets. The group is active in around 120 countries; He operates a logistics center for Eastern Europe in Bratislava and an assembly plant in Qingpu in the People's Republic of China. There are 5 distribution centers in Germany with a total of 23 branches.
