Turkey's economy is in an unstable phase. What consequences could this have for the German economy? As the infographic from Statista shows, Turkey is, on the one hand, a relatively small trading partner for Germany. It is ranked 16th in the order of the most important trading partners for Germany in terms of both exports and imports. The main export goods to Turkey are machinery, cars or car parts and chemical products. The mechanical engineering industry is therefore the first to feel the disruption. German companies can currently still offset the negative development in individual markets overall. On the other hand, further conflicts such as Brexit and the trade dispute with the USA lead to an overall economic situation that can cause uncertainty for German companies.

There are currently 7,815 think tanks worldwide, according to the 2017 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report. Of these, 1,872 are based in the USA. As the Statista graphic shows, Germany is in fifth place in the ranking with 225 think tanks. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Science and Politics Foundation are rated as particularly relevant. However, it is not enough for the top 10 most important think tanks worldwide. Here again the Americans dominate, with the Brookings Institution at the helm.

5G is on the verge of a breakthrough

The LTE network (4G) in Germany is not yet a decade old and a new mobile communications standard is already in the starting blocks. 5G - one of the big topics at the current MWC - is said to have a data rate that is 100 times higher than today's 4G networks - that would be up to 10,000 MBit/s. But it will probably be a while before the new mobile technology arrives on consumers' smartphones. For 2019, the current Ericsson Mobility Report assumes there will only be four million 5G mobile connections worldwide. But then everything should happen very quickly: by 2023 there should be around a billion 5G mobile connections - 118 million of them in Western Europe.

Playing pays off, at least for game publishers and Google. Priori Data , an app store intelligence platform, nine of the ten highest-grossing Play Store apps in Germany are Number one in the ranking in July is Gardenscapes with sales of $6.2 million. Seven of the ten highest-grossing iPhone apps in Germany are games, according to Priori Data , an app store intelligence platform. Pokémon Go took first place in the ranking in July 2018 with sales of around $1.6 million. In second place is the video streaming service app Netflix ($1.3 million), ahead of Tinder ($1.2 million). 44 percent believe that print (rather) has no future

Nextmedia.hamburg wanted to know what it looks like with the future of the print media . Statista investigated this question on behalf of the location initiative of the Hamburg media and digital economy. Accordingly, 44 percent of those surveyed agree to the statement that printed press products will be dead in ten years. On the other hand, specialist magazines or daily or weekly newspapers will remain relevant for more than every second than print products.
