Yesterday, Amazon shares were worth a trillion US dollars - a feat that only Apple has achieved. The graphic shows how enormously the value of the share has increased over the years. Ten shares purchased for $180 when the company went public in 1997 are now worth around $245,000 - an increase in value of 135,867 percent.
