According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), there are currently around 41 broadband connections for every 100 people in Germany. This puts the Federal Republic in seventh place in the ranking of all OECD countries and is even ahead of the high-tech nation of Japan in terms of broadband availability. At least at first glance. In Japan, around 77 percent of all broadband connections are connected to fiber optic cables. In this country, however, only 1.1 out of every 100 residents benefit from this technology.
