ALDI green electricity is generated 100 percent from sustainable hydropower and comes entirely from TÜV SÜD-certified power plants. Hydropower is produced in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France.

123energie supports climate protection projects all over the world that are certified according to the highest quality standard, the Gold Standard. These projects ensure that the greenhouse gases produced by gas combustion are offset elsewhere. Among other things, it supports a project with 67 wind turbines in Madhya Pradesh, India, and a landfill gas plant in the Chinese province of Henan. The Gold Standard was developed under the leadership of the environmental protection organization WWF and the Federal Environment Ministry. It certifies sustainable economic and social development at the location where energy is produced.

At Aldi Grünstrom and Aldi Ökogas, customers can choose between two tariffs - either for a contract with a flexible term or an offer with an attractive new customer bonus. There are no hidden costs - customers only pay what they used up. "As the inventor of the discount, we always offer our customers high quality services and products at an attractive price," says Dirk Rückwart, Director Category Electronics and Services at Aldi Nord. “Aldi Grünstrom and Aldi Ökogas are not only a cheap option for energy supply, but also an active contribution to climate protection”.
On October 24, 2019, 123energie achieved 1st place in the price-performance ratio and 2nd place overall in the German Fairness Prize, which was awarded for the sixth time by n-tv and the German Institute for Service Quality.
For this purpose, around 50,000 customer opinions on 545 companies from 48 industries were evaluated from April to August 2019. Prize winners are the top rated companies in the examined industries. The focus of the panel survey was the opinions on the areas of price-performance ratio, reliability and transparency. Consumers, whether the price and performance of the products offered or the services offered are in a fair relationship to each other, as it is about the liability of corporate statements and compliance with agreements and promised services- also with regard to product or contractual services- it is ordered fairly whether prices and contractual services are transparent and understandable, for example, there are no hidden costs. In the overall result, the results of satisfaction with the sub-areas with the following weightings were included: price-performance ratio with 40 percent, reliability and transparency with 30 percent each. In the category “electricity providers nationally”, the opinions on 29 providers were evaluated, in the category “Gas provider nationwide” to 23 providers.

This is the only way we can continuously satisfy customers and assert ourselves in an energy market with an increasing number of competing providers and high willingness to change. The online brand “123ENERGIE” of the Palatinate Aktiengesellschaft prevailed against strong competition and secured first place in the “electricity provider” category in the price-performance ratio ratio and was named second place in the same category and also in the “Gas provider” category.
