The Google I/O 2025 presented numerous innovations in the AI area that underline Google's ambitions to remain a leader in the AI landscape. From autonomous programming agents to film production tools to a completely redesigned search-Google presented an impressive portfolio of AI-based products and services that have the potential to fundamentally change our digital interaction.

Jules: The autonomous programming agent enters the public stage
Google released its AI programming agent Jules into the public beta phase. Originally presented in December 2024, Jules was previously only available to a limited extent via Google Labs. The agent is based on Gemini 2.5 Pro, which, according to Google, is not only a leader in programming benchmarks, but can also explain solutions transparently through Reasoning.
Unlike conventional code assistants, Jules works asynchronous and autonomous. Instead of just making code suggestions, the agent takes over entire areas of responsibility: he writes tests, develops new features, removes bugs and updated outdated dependencies. His way of working is fundamentally different from previous solutions:
"Jules is an asynchronous, agent coding assistant that integrates directly into existing repositories. He clits her code base into a secure Google Cloud Virtual Machine (VM), understands the complete context of youref project and performs tasks".
An interesting feature is the audio summary of changelogs, which means that developers can have changes read out. Jules works by direct cloning of the repositories to a Google Cloud VM, whereby Google promises not to use the code for training purposes and isolate the data. Jules can be used free of charge during the beta phase, but Google later plans to switch to a paid model.
Technical integration and workflow
Jules integrates seamlessly into Github workflows and enables developers to work on several tasks in parallel. As soon as a task is submitted, Jules develops a plan and suggests changes. Developers can check these changes, propose modifications or take them directly into the code. This deep integration and parallel processing allows programmers to concentrate on creative aspects while Jules takes on routine tasks.
Gemini 2.5: deeper thinking and improved efficiency
One of the most remarkable innovations is the “Deep Think” mode for Gemini 2.5 Pro. This experimental function enables the model to take several hypotheses into account before an answer. This is particularly evident in complex mathematical tasks and programming challenges.
Google describes the mode as follows: "Deep Think uses new research techniques that enable the model to take several hypotheses into account before answering". In benchmark tests, Deep Think achieved impressive results, including a score of 84% in the multimodal Reasoning test MMMU and an excellent performance in the extremely demanding United States of America Mathematical Olympiad 2025.
Gemini 2.5 Flash has also been revised and now needs 20 to 30 percent less tokens in processing, while it shows better performance in thinking, multimodality and processing of code. This optimized version will be available to all developers from June.
Performance improvements and new functions
Gemini 2.5 Pro dominates current AI benchmarks. The model leads the webdev arena with an elo score of 1,415 and, with its context window, sets new standards of long texts and videos of one million token.
Another innovation is the native audio edition, which enables more natural experiences of conversation. Developers can adapt the tone, accent and speech, with the system supporting more than 24 languages and can even switch seamlessly between them.

The CEO of Google Deepmind, Demis Hassabis, aptly describes this progress: “We leave the silent film era of video”. VEO 3 can not only create sound effects and background noises, but also generate dialogues that are perfectly synchronized with the video.
Flow: A tailor-made film production tool
Flow was specially developed for the VEO model and optimizes the strengths of the AI for filmmakers. Google describes Flow as "inspired by the feeling when time becomes slower and the creative is effortless, iterative and full of possibilities". The tool is specially designed for VEO, "with exceptional prompt-aderence and breathtaking cinematic editions that exceed physics and realism".

Flow is now available for subscribers to Google Ai Pro and Ultra plans in the USA, with a planned expansion to other countries.

Google Ai Pro and Ultra: Premium-Ki at premium prices
Google structured its AI offer and introduces two paid packages: Google Ai Pro (formerly Gemini Advanced) and the new Google AI Ultra for $ 249.99 per month.
The Ultra package is aimed at professional users and offers access to the most powerful AI functions of the company. It includes tools such as Gemini 2.5 Pro with Deep Think, VEO 3 with native audioogenization, images 4, whisk, notebootklm and other exclusive features. In addition, subscribers receive 30 terabytes of storage space, which would cost 149.99 euros per month individually.
The Ultra package is currently only available for US users, while Google Ai Pro (renamed Gemini Advanced) is continued unchanged. With this price strategy, Google positions itself in the high-priced segment and competes directly with opened premium offers.

The transformation of Google search
Google AI Mode is now available for all users in the USA and represents a fundamental realignment of the search engine. Behind the term is "a completely new search, in which the elements are put together on the search results via AI".
This AI-supported search can answer complex, multi-part questions by dividing extensive search queries into several smaller searches and processing in parallel-a process called “query fan-out”. AI Mode is supported by Gemini 2.5, as is the AI overviews.
Extended functions and global expansion
The AI overviews leave Google Labs and will be available in over 200 countries and more than 40 languages worldwide. According to Google, over 1.5 billion users already use these AI functions per month, which underlines the rapid adaptation of this technology.
The AI Mode receives a personal context and can use Deep Search "dozens or even hundreds of searches in parallel". In addition, it will be possible this summer to analyze complex data in AI Mode.
A particularly innovative expansion is the integration of Project Astra under the name “Search Live”.
