Germany is becoming smarter and smarter. This is shown by data from the Statista Digital Market Outlook. According to this, at least one smart home application is currently in use in 6.1 million households - the number is expected to rise to 13.5 million by 2023. The most common are devices from the “networking and control” category. These include smart speakers (Amazon Echo, Google Home, etc.), central control and communication units (gateways/hubs), programmable control buttons (e.g. wall buttons, rotary knobs) and socket inserts for switching non-smart devices on or off.
