SmartFlex solar modules for flat roofs: fold-out PV modules as a foldable solar system

The foldable system is delivered ready for assembly and saves time, personnel effort, costs and packaging waste at the installation site. “Solar systems are one of the most important pillars for expanding clean and sustainable energy production. With the new SmartFlex system, we make installation easier for solar installation companies and help clients get started with self-determined energy supply. SmartFlex consists of four fold-out PV modules, is delivered ready for installation together with all necessary components in reusable boxes and can be installed on any flat roof in a very short time. When unfolded, the Kopp SmartFlex modules are approx. 1.7 m² in size and produce an output of 1.6 kWp. Depending on the size of the roof and energy requirements, any number of modules can be connected easily and without anchoring to the roof using just one tool. Thanks to the included ballast material, the system can easily withstand strong winds and other extreme weather conditions.

At the assembly site, a crane lifts the modules out of their delivery boxes onto the roof, where they are then opened and connected to each other by just two solar technicians. The shortened construction time is particularly helpful for commercial customers who would otherwise have to interrupt their production or public traffic during the construction phase. The system also saves solar energy companies personnel capacity due to the quick installation and reduces strenuous physical work to a minimum, which is particularly advantageous in bad weather. Another plus: more flexibility in the winter months. Even a larger system can be installed at short notice with just a few rain-free or frost-free days in mind. This means solar engineers can spread their orders over the whole year or accept numerous additional ones.

The service-oriented production and supply chain is crucial for this. Kopp SmartFlex, including module carriers, ballast material, cables and building protection, is completely pre-assembled, folded and packed in reusable transport boxes at the production facility in Kahl am Main. These processes, some of which are patented, guarantee uniform quality on the one hand and, on the other hand, reduce the amount of waste and the corresponding disposal costs. Dismantling could also be carried out easily thanks to the anchorless “plug 'n' play” technology, which also makes Kopp SmartFlex very interesting for rental properties. “With the new product, Kopp covers all processes, from technical planning to production and delivery,” says Zouhair Kefi: “We are offering another, revolutionary solution for the growing need for autonomous energy supply using solar power.”
