This yield corresponds to approximately seven percent of the annual energy requirements of Wieland-Werke in Germany and therefore represents a significant saving in fossil fuels and a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions.

This report confirms that the ambitious sustainability goals are not only being achieved, but are continually being expanded. In the 2021/22 financial year, Wieland consistently pursued its sustainability strategy and made considerable progress, which is supported by high ratings in cross-industry ratings such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and EcoVadis.
“We will reduce our emissions by more than 46 percent by 2030. The fact that these reduction targets correspond to the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement was validated by the independent Science Based Targets initiative. “This is ambitious, but possible with clear sustainability management,” says Dr. Erwin Mayr, CEO of the Wieland Group, sure.

Greenhouse gas emissions should be drastically reduced through investments in the circular economy. Wieland increased the average recycled content in its products to 75.6 percent and plans to further increase this proportion by 2030. Increasing the use of green energy also contributes to decarbonization, increasingly from our own generation, such as the planned solar park near the Ulm company headquarters, which is expected to produce around 26 gigawatt hours of electricity annually from 2024 and save around 18,000 tons of CO2.
While the recycling rate represents the proportion of reused waste, the recyclate proportion is the proportion of secondary raw materials that flow into new products.

A newly developed concept not only includes the assessment of CO2 emissions, but also takes into account the proportion of secondary raw materials, recyclability and service life.
