Young people can't do without WhatsApp, Snapchat and Instagram? Perhaps. However, 12 to 19 year olds are least able to do so without another online offering: when an app or browser is opened, it is preferably for YouTube. No other offer is as popular among young people as the video portal.
In the annual JIM study (Youth - Information - Media), respondents were able to name their three favorite offers. The big winner compared to last year is Netflix: The streaming service increased from eight to 18 percent. The biggest loser is Facebook, as the graphic shows: The social network fell from 15 to six percent and is therefore no longer of any importance to the very young.
The Media Education Research Association Southwest has been surveying young people between the ages of 12 and 19 about their media use every year since 1998 for the JIM study.
