For years, Facebook has been the most popular social media platform among the 1,000 online shops with the highest sales in Germany. But at the same time as the data scandals, according to a current e-commerce study, some of the top-selling online shops have turned their backs on the industry leader for the first time in years. While 95.1 percent of the top 1,000 were active on Facebook in 2016, the distribution fell to 91.6 percent in 2017. On the other hand, Instagram has grown significantly. 70.4 percent (previous year: 64.0 percent) now use the platform.
