When it comes to innovation in medium-sized companies, there's no getting around the management team. Younger managers are generally considered more open to innovation. According to a Commerzbank study, this holds true with regard to digitalization, as younger personnel in leadership positions have a greater affinity for new technologies.
However, this should not be taken to mean that older generations are hostile to innovation: In terms of product innovations, they actually contribute more, because they have the necessary experience, foresight and assertiveness.
According to a survey by Commerzbank, the typical manager in a medium-sized company in Germany is between 40 and 49 years old. As our infographic shows, there are also more managers under 40 than over 60.
