🌞🏭 Energy and industrial change
The WOLFFKRAN production facility in Luckau, a historically grown industrial location, is sending a clear signal for the change towards sustainable production with the commissioning of a high-performance photovoltaic system. This is an exemplary step towards the energy transition and climate protection.
💡🌱 The photovoltaic system as a core element of the sustainability strategy
With the installation of a total of 1,880 photovoltaic modules, which have recently adorned the roofs of the production halls and the office complex, WOLFFKRAN Werk Brandenburg GmbH has made a forward-looking decision. This solar system will generate around 700,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy annually from the end of July. This corresponds to around 40 percent of the plant's total energy requirements, a significant step that underlines how seriously the company management takes ecological responsibility. In the first year of operation alone, the system is expected to be able to supply 15 percent of the electricity required.
💰🍃 Cost savings and CO2 reduction: A double win
David Zelder, the managing director of WOLFFKRAN Werk Brandenburg GmbH, emphasizes the importance of the new system: Not only are significant cost savings expected, but a significant reduction in CO2 emissions is also forecast - around 255 tons less CO2 per year. This reduction is equivalent to planting over 12,000 trees based on the average CO2 absorption of a tree.
🤝🔧 Partnership and technical expertise
The ambitious project was realized through collaboration with Emis Electrics GmbH, from Lübbenau, which is known for its expertise in the field of renewable energy technologies. Their expertise in planning, installing and maintaining photovoltaic systems was crucial for the smooth start of solar power production in Luckau.
⚡🚗 Electromobility as a further component of the energy strategy
WOLFFKRAN's energy vision is not limited to electricity production. As part of a holistic sustainability strategy, the company plans to soon build six charging stations for electric vehicles to promote electric mobility for employees and guests. In addition, the company's own forklifts and pallet trucks will also be supplied with clean electricity from solar energy in the future.
🌿🏭 The path to green production
The photovoltaic system in Luckau is more than just a collection of solar modules - it is a symbol of change in industrial production. It represents a move away from fossil fuels and a decisive step towards a sustainable, environmentally friendly economy.

🌿 Sustainable renovation in Luckau
The realization of a climate-friendly renovation in Luckau is a model example of sustainable business and responsibility towards the environment and society. The initiative is not only a response to rising electricity prices, but also reflects growing environmental awareness and commitment to climate protection. Of course, it was ultimately the high electricity prices that gave the project final impetus at the end of 2022, admits David Zelder, Managing Director of WOLFFKRAN Werk Brandenburg GmbH.
🌞 Renewable energies and heat recovery
With a focus on renewable energies and heat recovery, the company will play a pioneering role in the region. Modernization includes not only the technical upgrading of existing systems, but also the integration of sustainable technologies into the entire operational structure. This affects both the production sites and the administrative units. The aim is to significantly increase energy efficiency and drastically reduce CO2 emissions. Such measures are crucial as the industry is one of the largest energy consumers and CO2 emitters in the world.
🏭 Modernization of the heating and ventilation systems
“Next year, the modernization of the heating and ventilation systems in the production hall and in the administration building based on renewable energy and heat recovery systems is on the agenda, which we will also implement with local partners,” says David Zelder. The new heating and ventilation systems are based on renewable energies, which means a move away from fossil fuels. By using solar systems in the second production hall, solar energy is used effectively. This type of energy generation is not only clean and renewable, but also cost-effective in the long term. Switching to a more environmentally friendly energy supply is a crucial step in achieving climate goals and making operations sustainable in the long term.
🤝 Partnership with local actors
When it comes to realizing sustainable projects, partnerships with local actors are crucial. These alliances not only benefit the local economy, but also ensure that the solutions implemented are fine-tuned to specific regional conditions. The integration of local experts and companies allows a direct exchange of specialist knowledge and promotes region-specific specialist knowledge in the renewable energy sector.
☀️ Energy-saving renovation of the additionally acquired buildings
The additional buildings acquired last year are also currently being renovated to make them more energy efficient. In addition to an environmentally friendly heating and ventilation concept, electricity from solar energy will also flow in the second production hall.

🌍 Transformation to climate-neutral companies
The transformation of companies into climate-neutral institutions is one of the most urgent challenges of our time.
🏗️ WOLFFKRAN GmbH and its strategy
In this context, Luckau represents a significant step for WOLFFKRAN GmbH. Andreas Kahl, the managing director, emphasizes that local initiatives such as those at the Luckau location are central to the company's strategy in order to achieve the ambitious goal of climate neutrality.
🌿 Climate certificates and CO2 compensation
As for 2020/21, WOLFFKRAN has also purchased climate certificates for 2022/23 in order to fully compensate for its annual greenhouse gas emissions. WOLFFKRAN is now pleased that, thanks to local savings, fewer CO2-equivalent emissions had to be offset at all German locations in 2022/23 than in previous years. With the certificates acquired in 2022, the company is now supporting a wind energy project in Mexico.
♻️ Climate neutrality according to the “Clean Development Mechanism”
This makes WOLFFKRAN one of the first manufacturers in the industry to voluntarily compensate for its emissions according to the “Clean Development Mechanism”, a mechanism for reducing greenhouse gases established by the Kyoto Protocol.
🌱 Sustainability and progress
Through these comprehensive efforts, WOLFFKRAN is positioning itself as a pioneer in the transformation to a more sustainable business model.
🤝 Economic growth and environmental protection
By continually improving its sustainability practices, the company sets standards for the industry and shows that economic growth and environmental protection can go hand in hand.
🌟 Climate neutrality as a long-term commitment
The journey to climate neutrality is complex and requires a long-term commitment, but companies like WOLFFKRAN demonstrate that it is possible to make significant progress on this journey.
