According to the Global Consumer Survey, Americans are much more willing to pay for digital content than here. For example, 43.9 percent of US citizens surveyed spent money on a video streaming service (e.g. Netflix). Among the survey participants from Germany it was 27.2 percent. When it comes to music streaming, the US share is almost twice as high (39.3 percent versus 20.5 percent). The situation is similar in all other categories surveyed by Statista analysts.
