Artificial intelligence is being used in the unglamorous but practical world of back-office tasks to streamline business decisions and increase security. Based on a survey by Technalysis, approximately 70 percent of respondents who worked in the area of developing, piloting or running AI applications used the systems to improve data and network security in their company. Around two-thirds of respondents said they are developing their AI capabilities around business intelligence, an additional efficiency measure as part of the office decision-making process.
Another common theme in the company-wide AI implementation was improving and analyzing customer interactions. About 67 percent of respondents used AI for web and social media analytics, while almost as many used AI for call center and chatbot support.
These results are consistent with other predictions about what types of tasks AI is most likely to impact in the near future. An overview of the U.S. federal government jobs most likely to be affected by AI by 2030 includes administrative roles such as IRS tax auditors, bookkeepers, and auditors.
