Business Analytics Draws IT Leaders to Machine Learning

Machine learning is becoming a transformative force in many industries. According to the New York Times, machine learning refers to “systems that learn from data sets to accomplish and improve a specific task.” Machine learning has become an integral part of today's field of artificial intelligence. Above all, it differs from previous forms of artificial intelligence, which required a person to tell a system how to perform or complete certain tasks. The promise and practice of machine learning revolves around a system capable of capturing information, learning, executing, and improving.
The ability to learn and understand large amounts of data is particularly attractive to companies when it comes to business analytics. IT leaders surveyed by 451 research organizations found that a third of IT decision makers were most interested in adopting machine learning for business analysis. A quarter of these respondents want to use machine learning for security reasons. Only 10 percent of IT leaders who choose machine learning do so for customer service.
