IDC estimate, around $50 billion in sales will be generated in 2020 with applications for artificial intelligence (AI). As the graphic shows, the market volume is expected to more than double by 2024. “Companies will adopt AI not just because they can, but because they have to,” said Ritu Jyoti of IDC. And further: “AI is the technology that helps companies to be agile, innovative and scalable.” Currently, four of the most common application areas have something to do with sales or defense against cyber threats. With 11.3 percent of the market volume, the automation of customer service employees is currently at the forefront - this primarily means chat bots. This is followed by the automation of sales processes and the automated detection and defense of threats.
