For the third year in a row, Statista and FOCUS have identified Germany's fastest-growing companies. From the approximately 3.5 million companies registered in the commercial register, Statista selected the 11,500 most promising and invited them to participate in the "Growth Champions 2018" competition. All other companies demonstrating strong growth could apply through a public call for entries. Ultimately, the 500 companies with the highest revenue growth between 2013 and 2016 made it into the analysis, which was published in the new FOCUS BUSINESS magazine (available since October 28, 2017).
Thermondo GmbH, headquartered in Berlin, secured the overall victory in the ranking with the strongest annual revenue growth. This full-service provider for heating system installation and replacement operates nationwide and increased its revenue from €184,000 in 2013 to more than €20.2 million in 2016 – an average annual increase of 379 percent. HelloFresh, which is preparing for its IPO, landed in sixth place with a 245 percent increase.
Some further findings from the analysis: The major urban centers for the growth champions are Berlin (represented in the ranking with 42 companies), Hamburg (33), and Munich (24). Not far from the Bavarian capital, a high-growth business landscape has developed in Augsburg. The growth champions of 2018 from the IT, internet, and services sectors, followed by retail and e-commerce. An astonishing figure: During the survey period, the top 500 companies created more than 47,000 jobs.
