This system can produce over two gigawatt hours of emission-free electricity annually, enough to charge around 25,000 Enyaq 85 electric cars. This corresponds to an impressive saving in fossil fuels and a significant reduction in the carbon footprint.

🌍 Sustainable into the future

The move to solar energy is a core element of Škoda Auto's sustainability strategy. It shows the company's ambition to make production at its Czech locations, particularly at its headquarters in Mladá Boleslav and at the Škoda Parts Center logistics center, carbon-neutral by the end of the decade. This ambitious goal goes hand in hand with global climate goals and efforts to make the automotive sector more sustainable.

🌱 Economic efficiency and responsibility

The implementation of the photovoltaic system is more than just a response to ecological needs. At the same time, it is an economic investment in the future. In the long term, operating costs are reduced through the use of solar energy, giving Škoda Auto an advantage in increasingly tough global competition. In addition, the company positions itself as a responsible employer that invests not only in technologies, but also in people's quality of life and environmental protection.

🤝 Partnership and tailor-made solutions

By working with experienced partners such as ČEZ ESCO and ŠKO-ENERGO, a system was created that is not only the highest in terms of energy production, but also in terms of cost-effectiveness and reliability

🌱 Škoda Auto: On the way to sustainability in the automotive industry 🏭

🚗 In the automotive industry, known for its significant ecological footprint, the realization of sustainability represents one of the greatest challenges of our time. Škoda Auto, a major player in this sector, takes on this challenge with a proactive attitude. Andreas Dick, board member for production and logistics at Škoda Auto, illustrates this through the continuous evaluation and efforts to minimize the company's ecological footprint. The so-called “Green Production” is a central element of the Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030. It serves as a guide through a decade in which Škoda Auto has committed itself to ambitious sustainability goals, with the ultimate goal of achieving carbon-neutral production at its Czech plants by 2030 locations to reach.

🌿 Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, says: “We at Škoda Auto continually evaluate and work to reduce our ecological footprint. As part of our Next Level - Škoda Strategy 2030, 'Green Production' acts as a central pillar of our roadmap through this decade of change and ambitious sustainability efforts. We approach this challenge holistically together with our partners. We see this power plant as crucial to achieving our ambitious but realistic goal. Vehicle and component production at our Czech locations should be carbon-neutral by 2030.”

🤝 This vision should not be viewed in isolation, but as part of a broader plan that includes partnerships and collaborations. The ČEZ Group, represented by its CEO Daniel Beneš, shares the ambitions of Škoda Auto. ČEZ is committed to decarbonization and ensuring a sustainable energy supply. The company's goal of generating 6 GW of electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 and achieving complete carbon neutrality in energy production by 2040 speaks of a deep commitment to environmental protection. In this context, Škoda Auto's photovoltaic power plant underlines how industrial sustainability can be achieved - a facility that not only embodies the ecological goals of the two companies, but could also act as a model for other companies.

🔋 Daniel Beneš, CEO of the ČEZ Group, adds: “We at ČEZ are working hard on the decarbonization and security of our energy supply. Our goal is to produce 6 GW from renewable sources by 2030 and carbon neutrality in energy production by 2040. As one of the leading energy companies in the Czech Republic, we support both private and industrial customers who want to reduce their ecological footprint. Škoda Auto’s photovoltaic power plant is in perfect harmony with these goals.”

☀️ The technical side of this undertaking will be illuminated by Tomáš Kubín, Managing Director of ŠKO-ENERGO. The newly installed photovoltaic system at Škoda Auto's headquarters is more than just a collection of solar cells - it is a symbol of progress and innovation. With over 5,468 solar modules on the roofs of the production halls, Škoda Auto has created a significant capacity to generate emission-free electricity, delivering over 2 GWh per year. The success of this project follows the positive experience with the installation at the service center in Kosmonosy in 2019 and strengthens the already solid partnership between Škoda Auto and ČEZ.

🔌 Tomáš Kubín, Managing Director of ŠKO-ENERGO, describes the ambitious scope of the new photovoltaic system at the Škoda Auto headquarters: “This project can deliver over 2 GWh of emission-free electricity annually and represents a significant step towards carbon neutrality at Škoda Auto. The installation of 5,468 solar modules on the roofs of the three factory halls was a demanding undertaking. After our successful installation at the service center in Kosmonosy in 2019, the completion of this further project once again strengthens our successful partnership with Škoda Auto and ČEZ.”

🏭 The importance of such a project should not be underestimated, because it not only serves energy autonomy, but also the local economy. The use of solar energy leads to a reduction in dependence on fossil fuels, which is not only ecologically desirable but also economically sensible. Energy costs are a significant factor in car production, and the ability to cover part of this through renewable sources can give Škoda Auto a competitive advantage. This is even more true in times of rising energy prices and increasing regulatory requirements regarding environmental protection and sustainability.

🌍 The introduction of “Green Production” at Škoda Auto is also a step towards increasing transparency and accountability in the production process. Company management emphasizes the importance of comprehensible and measurable sustainability goals. For example, the CO2 emissions of every vehicle produced are meticulously recorded and analyzed in order to identify opportunities for reduction. This is an approach that covers the entire spectrum of Škoda's activities, from the supply chain to the end customer.

🚗 Another important aspect of the Škoda Strategy 2030 is the development and implementation of electromobility solutions. This is not only a response to increasing consumer demand for environmentally friendly vehicle options, but also a strategic decision to remain competitive in the long term. By integrating electric vehicles into its product portfolio and expanding the corresponding charging infrastructure, Škoda Auto is making a contribution to reducing the ecological footprint of transport.

🔄 Last but not least, Škoda Auto's commitment is reflected in its commitment to the circular economy. The company relies on recycling and reusing materials to extend the life cycle of products and reduce waste. In collaboration with start-ups and research institutes, we are working on innovative solutions to reuse materials in new vehicles or to find alternative uses.

🌱 The challenges on the path to a more sustainable automotive industry are diverse and complex, but Škoda Auto has made it clear that they are ready to accept them and act as a pioneer. With strategic partnerships, investments in renewable energy and a comprehensive restructuring towards an environmentally conscious production process, the Czech company will do its part to lead the automotive industry towards a greener future.
