🚗 In the automotive industry, known for its significant environmental footprint, achieving sustainability is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Škoda Auto, a major player in this sector, is tackling this challenge with a proactive approach. Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics at Škoda Auto, illustrates this through the company's continuous evaluation and efforts to minimize its environmental footprint. "Green Production" is a key element of the Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030. It serves as a roadmap through a decade in which Škoda Auto has committed to ambitious sustainability goals, with the ultimate aim of achieving carbon-neutral production at its Czech plants by 2030.
🌿 Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, says: “At Škoda Auto, we continuously evaluate and work to reduce our environmental footprint. As part of our Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030, ‘Green Production’ serves as a central pillar of our roadmap through this decade of transformation and ambitious sustainability efforts. We are tackling this challenge holistically together with our partners. We consider this power plant crucial for achieving our ambitious yet realistic goal: to make vehicle and component production at our Czech sites carbon neutral by 2030.”
🤝 This vision should not be viewed in isolation, but rather as part of a broader plan that includes partnerships and collaborations. The ČEZ Group, represented by its CEO Daniel Beneš, shares Škoda Auto's ambitions. ČEZ is committed to decarbonization and ensuring a sustainable energy supply. The company's goal of generating 6 GW of electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 and achieving complete carbon neutrality in energy production by 2040 demonstrates a deep commitment to environmental protection. In this context, Škoda Auto's photovoltaic power plant underscores how industrial sustainability can be realized – a facility that not only embodies the environmental goals of both companies but could also serve as a model for other businesses.
🔋 Daniel Beneš, CEO of the ČEZ Group, adds: “At ČEZ, we are working diligently on decarbonizing and ensuring the security of our energy supply. Our goal is to produce 6 GW from renewable sources by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality in energy production by 2040. As one of the leading energy companies in the Czech Republic, we support both residential and industrial customers who want to reduce their environmental footprint. Škoda Auto’s photovoltaic power plant is perfectly aligned with these goals.”
☀️ The technical aspects of this project are explained by Tomáš Kubín, Managing Director of ŠKO-ENERGO. The newly installed photovoltaic system at Škoda Auto's main plant is more than just a collection of solar cells – it's a symbol of progress and innovation. With over 5,468 solar modules on the roofs of its production halls, Škoda Auto has created a significant capacity for generating emission-free electricity, delivering over 2 GWh per year. The success of this project follows the positive experience with the installation at the service center in Kosmonosy in 2019 and strengthens the already strong partnership between Škoda Auto and ČEZ.
🔌 Tomáš Kubín, Managing Director of ŠKO-ENERGO, describes the ambitious scope of the new photovoltaic system at Škoda Auto's headquarters: “This project can supply over 2 GWh of emission-free electricity annually and represents a significant step towards carbon neutrality for Škoda Auto. Installing 5,468 solar modules on the roofs of the three factory buildings was a challenging undertaking. Following our successful installation at the service center in Kosmonosy in 2019, the completion of this latest project further strengthens our successful partnership with Škoda Auto and ČEZ.”
