Solar carport – Leaving the financing to a third party
Parking and generating electricity? Open parking lots are usually not very attractive. Perhaps a few spots shaded by a tree, maybe with some concrete flower boxes? Generally speaking, parking lots are ugly. Be it the parking lot at the discount store, the shopping center, or even the company parking lot. This is the common image of paved surfaces. Everywhere you look, such large areas are designed solely for one purpose: parking cars.
But now that can change. Generate and store environmentally friendly electricity in parking spaces and simultaneously charge electric cars as needed. The idea isn't entirely new, but given the current environmental policy climate, it's attractive for companies and municipalities to contribute to environmental protection and autonomous power generation. Charging stations can also be powered this way. The electricity is generated where it's needed. Additionally, each parking space saves 1.5 tons of CO2 per year.
It is also, and above all, about achieving the EU climate targets. The solar carport solution aims to cover existing open parking lots and large parking facilities with solar carports that not only protect the parked cars from the elements and environmental influences, but also simultaneously produce environmentally friendly electricity.
There are several ways to implement and finance the project. One of them is for parking lot owners to make their parking spaces available for solar roofing and to leave the financing to third parties.
The parking space owner incurs no costs during the contract period. He also does not have to worry about maintenance.
After the contractual term ends, the solar carport system will not be dismantled, but will transfer to the parking lot owner. The owner can then decide how to use the solar power that continues to be produced: either to feed it into the public grid or to use it for their own consumption.
