On August 11th, the day finally arrived – Rhenus Warehousing Solutions celebrated the opening of its state-of-the-art multi-user facility in Wesel. But this opening was no ordinary one – it marks a significant step towards sustainability and environmental protection. The enormous logistics property spans an impressive 86,000 square meters and meets all the requirements for the coveted BREEAM Excellence certification. But that's not all: As part of the Green Gate to Europe project, this location sets standards not only in energy efficiency but also in environmental protection. 🌍🏢

The new site, located in the Rhine-Lippe port of Wesel at the mouth of the Lippe River, boasts an innovative combination of logistics and sustainability. One of Europe's largest contiguous photovoltaic systems – with an impressive 9 megawatts of peak output – supplies the warehouse with the necessary electricity. The energy generated also powers the geothermal system, which not only provides climate control for the building but also contributes to an environmentally friendly energy supply. And thanks to advanced battery storage systems, the site can operate independently at night, drawing energy from natural resources. 🌞🔋

This exceptional logistics property remains active even at night. Thanks to extensive battery storage systems, the 86,000-square-meter site is self-sufficient at night.
