According to a survey of logistics experts in Germany, around 41 percent rated the framework conditions in logistics as "partly positive". A further 45 percent opted for "rather positive" and only 5 percent for "very positive".
Logistics experts gave a more positive assessment of the industry's economic situation. 23 percent felt the economic situation for logistics was very positive. A majority of 56 percent voted for "Rather positive." "Very negative," "Don't know," and "No answer" received no rating (0%).

Another example is the relevance of drones in logistics. For 36% of respondents, drones have very little relevance, while for 21% and 22% respectively, they have moderate to low relevance. Technologies like RFID, drones, and other, undoubtedly innovative, ideas should always be kept in mind, but it's also important to assess whether they make sense for one's own company and offer added value. It also depends on the specific question being asked and, above all, on the industry or product type.

Logistics is changing, but with potential for further development
Automation is only part of the solution. Global markets are also constantly changing. A fixed strategy and long-term logistics planning are not possible without modular and flexible agitation models.

The materials handling and intralogistics sector is part of mechanical engineering and deals with the organization, implementation, and optimization of internal material flows using technical systems and services. The intralogistics sector includes manufacturers of lifting equipment and cranes, forklifts, and warehouse technology (e.g., buffer storage), as well as software providers and complete system suppliers.
Intralogistics refers to the logistical flow of materials and goods that takes place within a company's premises. The term was defined to distinguish it from the transport of goods outside a factory, for example, by a freight forwarding company.

The Internet of Things has been capturing people's imaginations for quite some time now. And rightly so, because the Internet of Things (IoT) has the potential to impact the economy and our private lives as profoundly as the internet itself. In the IoT, devices and systems are interconnected, enabling them to communicate seamlessly and automatically, and to exchange data. Concepts such as artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous driving, connected shopping with mobile, cashless payment, and smart home applications for apartments and houses are all inconceivable without the IoT. This technology is not limited to electronic objects; for example, people could also be equipped with medical chips that digitally record blood pressure, pulse, or blood sugar levels and send them to external software for analysis.

The new 5G mobile communications standard is what makes the IoT possible in the first place. It promises data rates of up to 20 gigabits per second (Gbit/s) – LTE reaches a maximum of one Gbit/s – as well as higher frequency capacities and data throughput. Only in this way can IoT systems communicate seamlessly with each other and technologies such as autonomous driving be implemented safely. Another advantage of 5G over conventional LTE technology is its lower energy consumption, which makes the use of IoT systems at the nanoscale conceivable for the first time. 5G is thus paving the way for the IoT, which will help infrastructure providers such as telecommunications companies and other service providers achieve new growth.

The year 2020 was not very successful for most logistics companies worldwide. Many logistics providers experienced only slight changes in revenue compared to the previous year, if any at all. This was not the case for Deutsche Post DHL Group – Germany's largest logistics company was able to increase its revenue by €3.5 billion in 2020 compared to 2019. DSV Panalpina (€15.6 billion) and the US-based Expeditors (€10.1 billion) also recorded revenue growth of 26 and 19 percent, respectively, as the Statista graphic shows.
Deutsche Post's profitable run continued into 2021. The logistics group reported a record profit of €1.9 billion in the first quarter, more than three times the amount of the same period last year. This is primarily due to the consistently high order volume for Deutsche Post and DHL throughout the pandemic.

Thanks to the integrated lifting crane in the industrial lift, even heavy loads weighing up to one ton can be stored and retrieved efficiently and easily. Using the factory-installed crane, loads are placed directly onto the shelves of the storage system. The electrically operated crane can extend to the full extension of the shelves to pick up and place heavy goods.
